Here’s a gentle, step-by-step explanation of how the LASIK procedure works, so you can feel informed and comfortable every step of the way:

Step 1: Complete Eye Check-Up Before Surgery

Before anything else, our experienced eye specialist in Jaipur will perform a full eye examination to check if LASIK is right for you. We carefully look at:

• Your eye power and whether it has been stable for the past year.
  
  

• Prior to recommending LASIK, we assess corneal thickness, overall eye health, and rule out any underlying pathology such as glaucoma or cataracts.
  
  

• Your eye shape and size using special machines like corneal topography and pachymetry to map your cornea in detail.

Step 2: Making Your Eyes Numb (No Pain, Just Care)

Step 3: Creating a Gentle Corneal Flap

Now comes a very important step. Using a highly advanced femtosecond laser or a fine surgical tool called microkeratome, a very thin flap is made on the surface of your cornea. Don’t worry—it’s not removed. It is just folded back like a door to access the layer beneath.

Step 4: Reshaping the Cornea with Laser

Once the corneal flap is gently lifted, a precisely controlled excimer laser is used to reshape the stromal layer of the cornea to improve light refraction. This laser is extremely precise and safe.

Step 5: Gently Placing the Flap Back

Post-corneal reshaping during LASIK, the flap is meticulously realigned to its original anatomical position without the need for sutures, facilitating natural adhesion. It naturally sticks to the eye and starts healing right away.

Step 6: Aftercare & Healing Time

The full LASIK process takes only 15 to 30 minutes for both eyes. Postoperatively, we prescribe antibiotic and lubricating eye drops to reduce inflammation, prevent infection, and maintain ocular surface hydration.

You might feel a bit of dryness or irritation for a few hours, which is completely normal.

To ensure proper healing:

• Avoid rubbing your eyes.

• Wear protective eye covers at night.
  
  

• Rest your eyes and avoid any heavy activities for a few days.
